About The New Scottish
passionate about communicating the Christian message through music
The New Scottish Choir and Orchestra was founded by Jason McAuley in 1996.
"At the time I was a music student at the RSAMD and struggling to share my faith with my friends at College; they were not interested in going along to church or to the CU so, encouraged by a recent concert with the New Irish, I started The New Scottish and was excited by the opportunity it gave many to hear the Christian message in a fresh, non- threatening environment. This is still the case, in fact increasingly so- Fewer people than ever are going to churches in Scotland. We need to continually explore new ways to share God's love with people around us, and music can be one of the most powerful ways to do this".
Over the years The New Scottish has been involved in some fantastic events, working with many renowned people including Cliff Barrows, Michael Card, Philip Yancey, Moya Brennan, Matt Redman, Noel Robinson, Michelle John and John Ortberg. Yet the most important people have been the musicians in the choir and orchestra, sometimes up to 190 musicians have been involved on stage, without their gift of time and talents there would be no New Scottish!
